It goes without saying that there will be ample time for Derek and me to watch a fair amount of television and/or film. Plus reading, writing, and Derek will likely be making some kind of spreadsheet because he loves him some maths. There’s also games of the board game and Wii variety. And of course, I didn’t make the Liver Lovers Unite tumblr for nothing, there’s plenty there to look at. I thought I would start a list of the stuff I’m likely to indulge in during recovery. And maybe Derek will make his own post, too!
Television
The West Wing
Yes, I’ve seen the series in its entirety, but it’s been a few years. And it’s just so good. So I think I’m going to start at the beginning and watch the whole thing all over again.
Doctor Who
I recently watched the first season of the 2005 version which features the Ninth Doctor? (Superfans out there, please don’t be mad at me for not understanding the lingo. I’m doing the best I can.) This series appeals to my love of science fiction, not in the same way that the X-Files does, but it’s really fun and I’m looking forward to watching a bunch.
X-Files
Did someone say X-Files? I will definitely be revisiting some of the old episodes because my love of Mulder knows no bounds. I’ll probably skip the scariest episode, it’s called “Home” and it gave me nightmares. It is also the only episode that received a warning. Heed that warning people, it is straight up Scary Mc Scarypants Crazytown. <—- It obviously had some kind of weird effect on me, why else would I write that gibberish?
Film
I’ll take any suggestions you have here. I am way behind on my list of things to see, so my internal list is pretty long. I’d like to see some funny stuff, but not too funny, at least at first. I think laughing is going to be painful for a little while. Also, I think I’m going to want some feel good movies. I’ll also likely watch all the Bourne movies again, because, Matt Damon. Before the surgery though, I totally want to see the new Wes Anderson movie and the new Muppets movie.
Books
I have a rather obnoxious pile of books on my to read list; it’s a little out of control. Here are a few from the list:
The Best American Non-Required Reading 2013
I’m looking forward to reading this book I picked up over the holidays. I love short stories. Mostly because my attention span occasionally wanes. I know, shocker!
I liberated this book from work a while back. I like a good vampire book as much as the next gal.
At some point, I read most of this book because I was prepping for a potential interview at work. But then I realized an interview about this book would be nearly impossible. It’s hard to explain, but…it’s basically a book, but then there’s a story that happens in the margins, that refers directly to the book, and then the people having the conversation in the margins go back and comment on their previous margin comments. See? Weird interview for sure. So I’d like to go back and read it again, for the pleasure of it.
That’s what I’ve got so far. I may update this post as we go along.
